A Tesla Cybertruck owner was taken aback by the outcome after racing a non-electric vehicle in the desert.
Despite being a robust machine, the Tesla Cybertruck is also quite swift, making it ideal for drag races. The desert provides an excellent setting to test its remarkable abilities.
A video of a drag race between the Cybertruck and the Ford Raptor R was shared on the SterlingsWildWest YouTube channel, showcasing a competition between these two pickup trucks.
Though not in the league of a Ferrari or Lamborghini, the race was intense and highly entertaining.
Despite their similar classification as pickup trucks, the Cybertruck and the Raptor R differ significantly in other aspects.
The Cybertruck, an electric vehicle, boasts an impressive 845 horsepower, whereas the Ford Raptor R, with its V8 engine, delivers 720 horsepower.
Given these specifications, one might expect the Cybertruck to outperform the Ford in a drag race, and indeed, it did not disappoint.
In the quarter-mile race, the Cybertruck accelerated rapidly off the line, leaving the Ford Raptor trailing in the dust of the desert setting.
The Cybertruck’s 0-60 mph acceleration time of 2.6 seconds, compared to the Raptor R’s 3.7 seconds, contributed significantly to its victory, impressing all involved.
Viewers flocked to the YouTube video’s comments section to express their reactions to the Cybertruck’s dominant performance.
One commenter remarked, “That wasn’t an off road duel. Do a real race, not a drag race. Take it fast over rough stuff.”
Another said, “Awesome! Love both trucks but I’m still taking the Raptor R over the Cybertruck. I just want everybody to hear the beast roar before they see it.”
A third person noted, “Almost without fail… these comparison videos pit someone driving an entirely new vehicle they are unfamiliar with against someone in their daily driver. Also, they almost always seem to be the base model, much slower and less powerful than the Cyberbeast, against vehicles at the top of their class.”
A fourth added, “I wish there was actual course type testing. This was just a drag race in dirt. Yeah still would expect the CT to win that.”
