Fans of The Boys are well aware of the peculiar and sometimes uncomfortable scenes the show presents. Recently, the actress portraying Firecracker spoke about a particularly awkward filming experience.
Those familiar with The Boys understand that it’s a series characterized by its mix of strange, humorous, and odd moments.
The storylines, featuring superheroes involved in serious crimes and scandals, set it apart from the more family-friendly narratives of Marvel and DC.
A standout scene from the most recent season involves Firecracker, played by Valorie Curry, breastfeeding the adult superhero Homelander, portrayed by Antony Starr.
During a panel at the 2024 Comic Con in Northern Ireland, Curry, along with co-star Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk), fielded questions from fans.
When asked about the most uncomfortable moment during filming, Curry immediately referenced the breastfeeding scene, but for an unexpected reason.
She revealed: “Well, here is a secret about the infamous scene between Firecracker and Homelander in episode 6.
“When he was on my lap, those eagles were digging into my leg. I had little eagles on my thighs for like 2 hours indented.
“That was physically uncomfortable but otherwise great.”
Curry emphasized the positive working environment with her colleagues, despite the show’s odd and at times crude content.
She elaborated: “Everyone is very professional. We do very extreme things in terms of the content of the show.
“But everyone treats it with such seriousness and professionalism that it always feels very comfortable and I always feel as an actor in terms of the performance.”
Alonso chimed in with his own take, mentioning his discomfort during the ‘Herogasm’ episode in season 3, offering a simple nod to those familiar with the scene.
Following the Northern Ireland Comic-Con, Curry released a video addressing the importance of fan boundaries.
In a message shared on Instagram, she expressed appreciation for fans who were respectful and did not cross personal boundaries.
She commented: “By and large everyone was fantastic. I’ve only just started doing these conventions on my own and everyone for the most part has been lovely, so kind and so respectful, it’s been wonderful.
“But we do need to talk about boundaries and what is appropriate in terms of behavior.”
While Curry refrained from detailing the actions of certain attendees, she made it clear that their behavior was inappropriate.
