The European island that’s been dubbed a ‘mecca for swingers’ with ‘adult playground’ hotels

A well-known European holiday hotspot has reportedly earned a reputation as a ‘mecca for swingers’, with claims it’s packed with ‘adult playground’ hotels for anyone curious to explore that scene.

Adult-themed cruises may get plenty of attention, but for travellers who’d rather stay on dry land, one island is said to offer a similar atmosphere without setting foot on a ship.

For those planning a European summer break and looking for something a little more adventurous, Gran Canaria is being touted as the place to visit.

The Canary Island is already famous for an eye-catching nudist beach, and it’s also said to have a wide selection of adults-only venues, including hotels, clubs and bars geared toward a more risqué night out.

Employees at the La Mirage resort have spoken to The Sun ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer period for the island.

And while some might assume this kind of holiday is mostly popular with younger travellers, staff suggest plenty of guests are over 50 and still keen to take part.

The staff member said: “I would say the British are actually very open – and they like to play with Scandinavians and the Dutch, while Germans can be more reserved at first. We have no rules about clothes.

“You can be naked all the time or wear a swimsuit – we don’t want to oblige anyone to do anything, but of course, most of the people here practice nudism.”

According to the report, the hotel features an “adult playground”, along with equipment designed for couples, including a sex swing and a curved sofa intended to help guests try different positions.

Another staff member added to the Sun: “We have had a few occasions where couples have been too strong or keen, and we had to give them a warning and threaten to ask them to leave.

“They may be watching other couples or sitting by them while they are playing, when the other couple doesn’t want them to.

“Yes, this is a place for swingers and sex but also for people to relax and enjoy their holiday, and people need to be respectful.”

Not everyone locally is said to be thrilled about the reputation, with Matt Mitchell telling the outlet that one nearby shopping centre is ‘the mecca for swinging’—and claiming visitors travel from around the world to meet like-minded couples in Gran Canaria.

By day, the shopping centre reportedly looks like any other, with everyday stores and groceries, but the report suggests the vibe changes dramatically once evening arrives.
