The Simpsons’ Chief Wiggum Voice Actor Humorously Addresses Donald Trump’s Allegation about ‘Dogs Being Eaten in Springfield’

Among the numerous memes spawned from Donald Trump’s bizarre assertions about pets being consumed in Springfield, Hank Azaria may have just crafted the most entertaining one.

If you haven’t been living under a rock this past week, you’re likely aware of the remarks the former president made during the presidential debate with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris on Tuesday (September 10).

Yes, Trump claimed that pets were being eaten in Springfield—not the fictional town from The Simpsons, but the city in Ohio.

It might have been more logical if he had said he had just watched The Simpsons before taking the stage during the first debate with Vice President Kamala Harris in Philadelphia.

During the ABC debate, the 78-year-old stated: “In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs. The people that came in. They’re eating the cats. They’re eating… they’re eating the pets of the people that live there. And this is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame.”

The Republican presidential candidate was referencing an online rumor that Haitian immigrants in the city were abducting and eating pets.

Springfield Police have stated there is no evidence to support these claims, explaining that the ‘credible source’ was actually a ‘neighbor’s daughter’s friend’ of the person who initiated the rumor.

The rumor included a claim that a pet cat was found hanging from a tree, skinned and ready to be eaten.

However, there was no evidence to suggest any of it was true. That didn’t stop Trump from using his platform to discuss it and spread misinformation.

Consequently, social media was flooded with a wave of hilarious posts, predominantly The Simpsons memes, and I must admit, I’m enjoying it.

The standout meme, however, came from Hank Azaria, a voice actor for The Simpsons who portrays several characters, including Springfield’s Chief Wiggum.

He shared a video on Twitter, impersonating Chief Wiggum on a 911 call.

In the comedic sketch, he said: “Springfield Police Chief Clancy Wiggum speaking, how can I help you?

“People are eating dogs? What do you mean, like hot dogs? Oh, cats? Mr. Katz is eating hot dogs? No?

“People are eating dogs and cats? People are eating dogs and cats in Springfield? Are they good?”

The amusing video went viral, amassing over six million views. However, Azaria was not alone in joining the fun.

One user posted a meme of dogs swimming in gravy on The Simpsons, captioned: “In Springfield they’re eating the dogs…’

“Donald Trump thinks he’s living in The Simpsons…”

Another user shared the iconic image of Abe Simpson making the front page of a newspaper in the show, with the headline ‘OLD MAN YELLS AT CLOUD’.

This one was captioned: “IN SPRINGFIELD. THEY’RE EATING THE DOGS. THEY’RE EATING THE CATS. THEY’RE EATING. THEY’RE EATING THE PETS.”

Do I need to say more?
