The Simpsons ‘predictions’ possibly coming true in 2025 are truly terrifying

Move aside Baba Vanga and Nostradamus, because with the arrival of a new year, there are fresh predictions from The Simpsons that have caught the public’s attention.

Admittedly, the animated show didn’t quite hit the target when it came to the 2024 US elections, but mistakes are a part of life, right?

However, The Simpsons has had its share of uncanny predictions about the future, from Raygun’s viral Olympic breakdancing moment to an unexpected music collaboration. So, what are some of the forecasts the famous series has made that might unfold as we step into the new year?

HubPages highlights three specific predictions from the show that could realistically or hypothetically come true in the future, possibly even as soon as 2025.

First on the list is WW3. Considering the current global situation, this prediction doesn’t seem entirely shocking and could be perceived as plausible for 2025.

The topic of a third World War has been referenced multiple times since The Simpsons first debuted.

In a 1987 short featuring Homer Simpson, he believes a world war has already commenced, leading the family to create a makeshift shelter in the garden.

In season six, episode 19, titled ‘Lisa’s Wedding,’ Lisa’s fiancé, Hugh Parkfield, along with Homer and Bart, visit Moe’s Tavern.

Upon realizing Hugh is British, Moe mentions their assistance in WW2, to which Hugh replies: “Well, we saved your a**e in WW3.” Moe concurs: “That’s true.”

Whether such an event materializes this year, years down the line, or never at all, it remains uncertain. But, as always, The Simpsons have spoken.

In 2005, season 16, episode 19, ‘Thank God, It’s Doomsday,’ featured Homer, Lisa, and Bart watching a movie about the rapture—an event where Christ returns to gather believers amidst an apocalypse.

Homer becomes anxious about the rapture being imminent, convinced that the ‘end’ is ‘near.’

Although nothing catastrophic happens, and Homer and his family remain safe, real life may not mirror their fictional world.

This particular prediction might seem far-fetched, but with events like the revival of a ‘zombie virus’ from permafrost in 2023, the notion of a global health crisis isn’t entirely implausible.

In the Treehouse of Horror spin-off series, episode four of ‘Treehouse of Horror XX’ tells the story ‘Don’t Have a Cow, Mankind.’

Krusty the Clown’s Burger 2.0 leads to a zombie outbreak, and Springfield’s fate rests in Bart’s hands.

Bart ultimately saves the day by vaccinating the population, thwarting the zombie takeover.

Social media users have already started discussing these ‘predictions.’

One user on Twitter suggested the possibility of a zombie apocalypse predicted by the show in 2024, suggesting a sense of relief that it hasn’t happened yet.

“As 2024 ends and 2025 begins, so does Season 16 as we’re on the final 3 episodes where Homer thinks the world will end, Ned leaves Springfield, and Bart goes to a Catholic school with Thank God, It’s Doomsday, Home Away from Homer, and The Father, the Son, and the Holy Guest Star,” another user commented.

Nonetheless, another person reassured: “Guys don’t worry, there’s a ton of Simpson predictions that haven’t happen.”

Whether these scenarios will come to pass is uncertain, but let’s hope 2025 doesn’t follow the path of some of the more harrowing years we’ve endured.
