The States Where Trump’s Support Has Plunged Most Since He Returned to Office

New polling on Donald Trump’s second stint in the White House suggests his standing with voters has weakened significantly.

Trump, who previously served from January 2017 until January 2021, returned to office in January 2025.

Since re-entering the Oval Office, his administration has pushed through a large number of executive orders, introduced sweeping tariffs, and overseen aggressive immigration enforcement. Those moves appear to have affected how many Americans view his performance.

A fresh survey now offers a clearer picture of where things stand.

Figures published on June 17 by Civiqs by Murmuration indicate that, despite winning enough support to secure a second term, Trump’s popularity has declined since he was sworn in again in 2025.

State-by-state data shows some of the sharpest drops have come in places that were once more favorable to him, including several states he carried in the 2024 presidential election.

Civiqs said it collected 111,661 responses in its nationwide poll focused on Donald Trump and his “Job Approval” during his second term.

When respondents were asked whether they approved or disapproved of the way the president was “handling his job as President,” the largest share said they disapprove. According to the poll, 58 percent disapproved, 37 percent approved, and five percent said they had no opinion.

The national figures are notable on their own, but the breakdown by state reveals some especially steep declines.

In Florida, Trump started January 2025 with 53 percent approval and 44 percent disapproval.

By June 2026, that had shifted to 42 percent approval and 53 percent disapproval.

That means his net approval in the state fell from +9 to -11.

Pennsylvania has followed a similar path. In January 2025, polling there was nearly even, with 49 percent disapproving and 47 percent approving.

By June 2026, those numbers had moved to 55 percent disapproval and 40 percent approval.

That pushed his net approval in Pennsylvania from -2 down to -16.

Nevada also saw a marked slide.

At the start of the term, 49 percent disapproved while 48 percent approved, leaving him at a net -1 in the state.

That has since worsened to 58 percent disapproving and 37 percent approving, bringing his net approval to -21.

North Carolina, which had been almost evenly split with 49 percent approval and 48 percent disapproval in January 2025, now shows 55 percent disapproval and 41 percent approval.

That represents a 15-point drop in net approval, moving from 0 to -14.

Ohio has also moved in the wrong direction for Trump.

Earlier numbers there showed 51 percent approval against 45 percent disapproval, but the state’s net approval has since fallen from +7 to -13, a 20-point decline.

Kentucky rounds out the list of notable changes.

Among the states highlighted, Kentucky recorded the steepest fall.

When Trump returned to office, 59 percent approved of his performance there and 37 percent disapproved. The latest figures now show 46 percent approval and 46 percent disapproval.

That takes his net approval in Kentucky from +22 to 0, a 22-point drop.

Even in states where he remains above water, the margins have narrowed. North Dakota, South Dakota and West Virginia still show more support than opposition, but not by as much as before.

Meanwhile, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin are also in negative territory overall.

According to this poll, Trump’s approval rating has declined in every state since the start of his second term.
