Sydney’s Taronga Zoo recently welcomed two tiny baby meerkats to proud parents Nairobi and Maputo. Now these curious pups are out of the nest box and exploring their new home, giving us an excuse to coo over how cute they are.

They haven’t been named yet, but this brother and sister duo have taken their first steps into the wide world of their enclosure.
Born on January 7th, the pups now weigh just 120 grams and are receiving their health checks and vaccinations.
And the new parents are doing a great job: “Nairobi is letting the pups suckle and grooming them. Maputo protects them, huddles over them and curls up with them at night,” says their keeper.
The pups are the first meerkats born at the zoo in nearly seven years, and they’ve been busy exploring under their mom’s watchful eye.
“Our male is the bigger of the two and he’s more adventurous and inquisitive, while the female is quieter and prefers to stay close to mom.”
It’s almost too much cute to handle.
So curious.
