TikTok Influencer Sana Yousaf, 17, Fatally Shot by ‘Rejected’ 22-Year-Old Man

A teenage TikTok influencer has tragically been shot and killed, allegedly by a 22-year-old man she had reportedly rejected.

Sana Yousaf, renowned for her social media presence with over a million followers, was just 17 when she succumbed to a gunshot wound at her residence in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on Monday, June 2.

According to CBS News, Pakistani authorities confirmed her death on Tuesday and have detained a man who was observed spending considerable time outside her home before the alleged murder took place.

Islamabad police chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi disclosed during a press briefing that the 22-year-old suspect had been repeatedly rebuffed by Sana and was apprehended within 20 hours following her demise.

Rizvi remarked, “It was a case of repeated rejections. The boy was trying to reach out to her time and again.”

He further described the incident as “a gruesome and cold-blooded murder.”

Sana was a well-known content creator on platforms like TikTok, boasting a follower count of over 800,000. Her content included popular lip-sync videos, skincare tips, beauty promotions, and fashion showcases.

In addition to her beauty and fashion content, she also engaged her audience with videos featuring cars, products, and entertaining moments with friends, including pizza outings and light-hearted jokes.

In a devastating twist, Sana’s final post showcased her celebrating her 17th birthday with a cake-cutting video under a decoration of pink balloons, shared just hours before her tragic death.

The video attracted numerous tributes, with commenters expressing sentiments like ‘Rest in Peace’ and ‘Justice for Sana.’

“This is so awful. A literal 17-year-old with so much innocence, killed for what?” one fan lamented.

Another commenter expressed disbelief, stating, “Can’t believe this. May her soul rest in peace.”

A third user added, “Nobody is safe in this country! This is so heartbreaking!!”

This tragic event underscores the severe issue of violence against women and girls in Pakistan, where a study revealed that over 24,000 cases of abductions and kidnappings were reported last year.

The study also highlights more than 2,000 domestic violence cases, over 500 ‘honor killings,’ and upwards of 5,000 rapes reported in 2024, with conviction rates alarmingly low at below two percent for these crimes.

Statistics from UNFPA Pakistan indicate that 28 percent of women aged 15 to 49 have endured physical violence, six percent have been victims of sexual violence, and 34 percent of married women have faced physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from their partners.

Incidents involving women being attacked after rejecting proposals or advances are, regrettably, not uncommon, as reported by CBS News.
