Tom Cruise ‘refused’ significant proposal from Trump after avoiding questions on presidency

According to a recent report, Tom Cruise has declined a significant offer extended by President Donald Trump.

The entertainment industry, along with various other sectors, has been impacted by Trump’s presidency.

In May, Trump, a former businessman, announced a plan to implement a 100 percent tariff on films produced outside the United States. He expressed his belief on his social media platform, Truth Social, that the American movie industry was “dying a very fast death.”

During the promotion of Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning, Cruise, a prominent Hollywood figure, was asked for his thoughts on Trump’s proposed plans.

He swiftly dismissed the query, stating, “We’d rather answer questions about the movie. Thanks.”

Cruise is not alone in speaking out against the proposed tariff. However, a report from The Washington Post indicates that Cruise opted to decline an opportunity for recognition at an upcoming event that Trump will host.

The Kennedy Centre Honours, an annual awards event, celebrates outstanding contributions to American culture in the performing arts.

Elected as the new Board Chair of the Centre’s Board in February, Trump recently announced he would be hosting the December event and noted his involvement in selecting the nominees.

The list includes actor Sylvester Stallone, singer Gloria Gaynor, rock band Kiss, country music star George Strait, and singer Michael Crawford. Trump reportedly wanted Cruise to be among those honored.

Nonetheless, the report suggests that Cruise turned down the offer.

The cited reason was “scheduling conflicts,” and Cruise’s representatives declined to comment to The Washington Post.

In addition, Trump announced plans to renovate the Kennedy Centre’s infrastructure.

“We’re going to bring it to a higher level than it ever hit,” he stated during an appearance at the centre on Wednesday, August 14.

Trump appears to be focused on renovations, as plans to build a modernized ballroom on the East Wing of the Oval Office were announced by the White House last month.

Chief of Staff Susie Wiles stated, “The President and the Trump White House are fully committed to working with the appropriate organisations to preserve the special history of the White House, while building a beautiful ballroom that can be enjoyed by future administrations and generations of Americans to come.”

Cruise’s representatives have been approached for comment.
