Hollywood contains numerous recognizable personalities that audiences have watched in films and television programs for many years, but would you actually notice these celebrities if you encountered them in everyday situations?
Certainly, devoted fans might be able to identify their favorite stars among crowds of people, but for others, such recognition could prove considerably more challenging.
Spotting famous individuals might become even more difficult when traveling in foreign countries where you wouldn’t necessarily expect to encounter them.
Vietnamese travel content creator Khoa Pug recently discovered he had no awareness of the prominent actress seated beside him, and admittedly, he paid little attention to her presence during his filming.
While recording content at a Japanese restaurant, Khoa consumed his meal and shared commentary about the sushi offerings, treating it like any typical dining review video.
Khoa apparently only realized the identity of his dining neighbor after completing his filming and publishing the content to YouTube on May 11, evidenced by his video title: “Khoa Pug sits down to eat with an Oscar-winning Hollywood star…”
The celebrity in question turned out to be none other than “Black Swan” star Natalie Portman.
Social media users expressed amazement at how closely the content creator was positioned to the acclaimed actress.
One viewer commented: “Sitting down to eat with Thor’s wife without even saying hello, so annoying!”
Another wrote: “Thor’s wife sat next to him, on this side, be careful, if thunder hits you with a stick, you’ll definitely become a lightning superhero… but I have to admit that you’re lucky, even when you go out to eat, you meet a superstar.”
A third person simply stated: “That’s Natalie Portman she’s so famous. You are so lucky.”
After requesting his audience to identify the “Thor: Love and Thunder” actress, Khoa appeared to make light of his bewilderment regarding other patrons’ reactions to her presence.
According to translated comments, he reflected on the YouTube video about the experience, stating: “I was sitting down to eat and saw customers constantly asking to take pictures of her. I was so angry, I thought: ‘How strange! The number 1 travel YouTuber in Vietnam is sitting here, not asking to take pictures, but asking to take pictures of the woman next to him.’ Who would have thought.”
The purpose of Portman’s visit to Japan remains unclear, though she has maintained an extremely busy schedule, having attended the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday (May 17).
