Travis Kelce is gearing up to possibly capture his fourth Vince Lombardi Trophy with the Kansas City Chiefs, but it’s his pre-game attire that’s caught the attention of many.
As anticipation builds over whether the Chiefs can achieve an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl title on February 9, some fans have become fixated on the 35-year-old’s unique fashion choice.
The tight end sported an Amiri suit from the brand’s new fall/winter collection, consisting of a red jacket and trousers, paired with a similar shirt, tinted sunglasses, a black duffle bag, and chunky white and black shoes.
Kelce appeared calm and composed despite facing the challenge of the Philadelphia Eagles in front of over 70,000 fans at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Attendees included President Donald Trump and Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
Reactions on Twitter to Kelce’s outfit varied widely.
One user commented: “The hell is Travis Kelce wearing lmao.”
Another tweeted: “What in the heck is Travis Kelce wearing? Taylor must have picked it out.”
A third person mentioned: “You know, this morning I was actually thinking to myself if the chiefs win whatever like they win all the time and I just wanna watch football, but after seeing Travis Kelce’s outfit for the game I have completely changed my mind. GO BIRDS!!”
However, not all reviews were negative, with some fans praising his style.
One fan wrote: “Travis Kelce won the Super Bowl outfit contest. He’s looking extremely fly.”
Another remarked: “Travis Kelce Brings Retro Vibes to Super Bowl LIX in a ‘70s-Inspired Outfit! Travis Kelce just rolled up to #SuperBowlLIX in style! His ‘70s-inspired ensemble is giving us all the retro vibes.”
Another fan added: “Loved, loved, loved Travis Kelce’s John Travolta outfit that he was rocking as he entered the stadium!”
Kelce’s ’70s-inspired look resonated with fans, with one joking it made them want to listen to a well-known American soul band formed in 1969.
“Travis Kelce’s outfit is making me want to go listen to Earth, Wind & Fire,” they joked.
In the lead-up to Super Bowl 59, Kelce was asked on Wednesday, February 5, if he listens to Kanye West to get in the zone for the game. His response was immediate.
“I know you’re dating Taylor, but do you have any Kanye on your hype playlist?” a reporter inquired.
The NFL player promptly responded with a firm ‘No’ and moved on to the next question.
The tension between West and Swift dates back to 2009 when the rapper interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech at the VMAs, arguing she didn’t deserve the Best Female Video award and claiming Beyoncé should have received it.
Beyoncé later won the Video of the Year award and invited Swift on stage to finish her speech that West had interrupted.
