Travis Kelce’s father has provided more insights regarding his son’s recent engagement to Taylor Swift.
On August 26, Taylor and Travis took to Instagram to reveal their engagement after being in a relationship for two years. In less than a day, the announcement has garnered over 26 million likes.
In the post, the ‘Love Story’ singer wrote, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” capturing widespread attention.
Although the couple has just made their engagement public, it appears that Travis proposed about two weeks prior.
Ed Kelce, Travis’s father, shared with News 5: “Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago.
“He was going to put it off until this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event.”
Ed also shared the advice he gave his son: “I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”
It seems Taylor’s father offered similar guidance to the Kansas City Chiefs player.
Given this timeline, Taylor’s fans have been piecing together the details and realized it aligned with when the renowned singer appeared on Travis’s podcast, New Heights.
Many initially believed Travis was anxious about having Taylor on the podcast for the first time, but now it appears he was acting differently because he was on the verge of proposing.
One Twitter user commented: “We thought Travis was nervous to have her on the podcast but it’s because he was about to propose what the hell.”
Another individual shared: “Wait HOLD ON, Taylor and Travis filmed the podcast episode on August 10 where Travis said the most romantic things i’ve ever heard someone say to Taylor, and then they got dressed and went to dinner where travis led her out to a beautiful garden & proposed.”
In addition, a fan noted: “Ed Kelce spilling that Travis proposed the same day they filmed the podcast which means we got the last few hours of Taylor swift before she became a fiancee,” referencing Travis’s demeanor as that of “a man who was going to propose in a few hours.”
