Trump Airport logo sparks outrage as critics claim bizarre detail was made by AI

Social media users have zeroed in on what they say is an ’embarrassing’ mistake in the logo unveiled for the new President Donald J Trump International Airport in Florida, formerly known as Palm Beach International Airport.

Fresh signage went up at the airport on Thursday, July 9, as the name change took effect, while officials said the broader rebrand process could take as long as three weeks to complete.

Airport officials say the three-letter airport code used on bookings and baggage systems will remain PBI for now, with the visible change to DJT expected on August 18. The airport’s ICAO identifier has already been updated to KDJT, according to airport and federal notices.

The renaming followed a Florida law signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in March 2026 that gave the state authority to rename major commercial airports, and Palm Beach County later approved a naming-rights and licensing agreement for the new Trump branding.

Trump has previously welcomed the move to rename Palm Beach’s airport after him, calling it a “great honor” in a post shared on Truth Social.

He wrote: “A very big day in Palm Beach, Florida, where it was my great honor to have the Palm Beach International Airport be renamed, by a spectacular vote, The President Donald J. Trump International Airport.

“The area is HOT, the location is GREAT, and the renovation will be SPECTACULAR. Thank you to all in Palm Beach for your vote and your confidence. This will soon be one of the greatest and most spectacular airports anywhere in the world!”

Not long after the branding appeared online, commenters began highlighting what they viewed as a design error, with several claiming artificial intelligence had been used to create the logo.

One user on Reddit wrote: “All the resources in the world and the logo for Trump airport is AI generated.

“Look at the talons.”

Another person commented: “God forbid he pay an American citizen money to design it.”

A third added: “I spent two hours yesterday trying to figure out where this logo came from because it’s not the official seal of the US or the presidential seal.”

One more wrote: “Looks like cartoon hands,” a fourth penned.

Officials expect the rebrand to cost as much as $5.5 million, covering new signage, updated branding, and related changes.

The airport in West Palm Beach is also expected to remain a regular point of travel for the Trump family during visits to Mar-a-Lago.

Eric Trump also praised the airport overhaul in a post on X.

Writing on X, he said: “There is no person who has done more for Florida and our country, and no one more deserving of this incredible honor.

“As a son, and someone who flies out of this airport nearly every day, I will forever be proud to see the initials ‘DJT’ on my boarding pass.”
