President Donald Trump has responded to allegations concerning Elon Musk’s alleged drug use at the White House. Recent reports from the New York Times suggested that Musk was using various substances, such as ketamine, ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, and Adderall, while campaigning. It was alleged that Musk carried a ‘pill box’ with him during his travels.
The article claimed that Musk indulged in these drugs, which have both recreational and medical uses, as frequently as once a day last year. Furthermore, it was reported that Musk’s ketamine use was so frequent that he experienced bladder issues associated with the drug.
Although the sources could not verify whether Musk’s alleged drug use occurred during his tenure at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) or during his 2024 campaign, Musk vehemently dismissed the report as ‘lies’.
“Also, to be clear, I am NOT taking drugs! The New York Times was lying their a** off,” Musk stated. “I tried *prescription* ketamine a few years ago and said so on X, so this not even news. It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven’t taken it since then.”
This week, Trump was questioned about the report. “I really don’t know, I don’t think so, I hope not,” he said regarding Musk’s alleged drug use at the White House. “I wish him well… I just wish him well, very well, actually.”
The remarks came after a major fallout between Trump and Musk, following Musk’s resignation from DOGE. The conflict appears to have arisen from Musk’s criticism of Trump’s ‘big beautiful bill’, which includes no tax on Social Security and no tax on overtime and tips.
Musk has attempted to connect Trump to the Jeffrey Epstein files in now-deleted tweets and has also called for Trump’s impeachment. In one instance, Musk seemed to align with a Twitter user advocating for Trump’s impeachment and replacement by JD Vance. Musk retweeted this post with the word ‘yes’.
Regarding Musk’s departure from DOGE, Trump claimed that Musk was ‘wearing thin’ and that he requested his resignation. According to Trump on Truth Social, “I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!”
Musk dismissed this as an ‘obvious lie’ and described Trump’s comments as ‘so sad’. In an ABC News interview, Trump was questioned about a potential reconciliation with Musk. He replied, “You mean the man who has lost his mind?” and indicated he was ‘not particularly’ interested in a discussion. He later told CNN, “I’m not even thinking about Elon. He’s got a problem. The poor guy’s got a problem.”
