Donald Trump has been criticised online after a strange moment during a White House Easter event, where he brought up Joe Biden while speaking with children.
The president has often aimed jabs at his former rival, frequently using the nickname ‘Sleepy Joe’.
Despite Biden leaving office more than a year ago, Trump appeared to have him on his mind again when he referenced the 83-year-old during the annual Easter egg roll.
Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed families to the White House for the tradition, and at one point the president was even accompanied by the Easter bunny as he spoke about the war in Iran.
Later, some children were given a chance to meet Trump and ask for autographs — and it was during that interaction that he steered the conversation toward Biden.
“I could sign autographs for you guys. And then tonight, you could sell them for $25,000 on eBay,” Trump told the children.

He then added: “Biden would use the autopen. He was incapable of signing his name, so they’d follow him around with this big machine. You know what it was called? An autopen.”
The remarks quickly drew backlash on social media, with users arguing the comments were out of place at an event aimed at kids.
“Children don’t care. Trump needs a therapist to get over Biden.”
“Kids have no idea what you’re talking about,”
“And this is acceptable behavior?”
The exchange comes after Trump previously alleged that Biden relied on autopens to sign executive orders, as some in his camp suggested the former president was not fully in control during his term.
Biden’s team rejected the idea in a statement, insisting the decisions were his.
“Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency. I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation, and proclamations. Any suggestion that I didn’t is ridiculous and false,” Biden said in a statement.

“This is nothing more than a distraction by Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans who are working to push disastrous legislation that would cut essential programs like Medicaid and raise costs on American families, all to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations.”
Separately, in September last year, the White House’s social media channels showcased a newly added ‘presidential walk of fame’, featuring framed portraits of previous US presidents.
At the time, the Trump administration took aim at Biden by swapping out a portrait of him for an image showing an autopen signing his name.
