Donald Trump has used Truth Social to criticize Russia and Ukraine after he presented a 28-point peace proposal.
The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which started in February 2022, has been devastating, and Trump has consistently claimed he could bring about a resolution.
According to a June report by The Guardian, the conflict has resulted in the deaths or injuries of one million Russian soldiers, while nearly 400,000 Ukrainians have lost their lives.
With these distressing numbers, global leaders have been advocating for an end to the conflict. Trump recently proposed a peace agreement that he expects Ukraine to accept by November 27.
This proposal includes Ukraine ceding the Donbas region to Russia, lifting sanctions to reintegrate Russia into the global economy, and reducing Ukraine’s military to 600,000 personnel.
Today, November 23, US diplomats have gathered with Ukrainian officials in Geneva to discuss the proposal. During this significant meeting, Trump, who is not present in Switzerland, expressed his dissatisfaction on Truth Social with Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky for their lack of appreciation towards the US.
Trump expressed his frustration: “I INHERITED A WAR THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED, A WAR THAT IS A LOSER FOR EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE SO NEEDLESSLY DIED. UKRAINE ‘LEADERSHIP’ HAS EXPRESSED ZERO GRATITUDE FOR OUR EFFORTS, AND EUROPE CONTINUES TO BUY OIL FROM RUSSIA.”
