Trump delivers fiery critique of Obama in tribute to civil rights figure Jesse Jackson

President Trump used his tribute to Jesse Jackson as an opportunity to take a jab at former President Barack Obama, whom he succeeded in 2017.

News broke today (February 17) that Jackson, a prominent figure in the civil rights movement and a close associate of Martin Luther King Jr, passed away at the age of 84. He was a two-time US presidential candidate and had a significant influence on the movement after Dr. King’s assassination.

Jackson died at home, surrounded by his family, according to his daughter, Santita Jackson.

In response to his passing, Trump took to Truth Social to express his condolences for the well-known activist.

“The Reverend Jesse Jackson is Dead at 84,” Trump stated. “I knew him well, long before becoming President. He was a good man, with lots of personality, grit, and ‘street smarts’.

“He was very gregarious – Someone who truly loved people! Despite the fact that I am falsely and consistently called a Racist by the Scoundrels and Lunatics on the Radical Left, Democrats ALL, it was always my pleasure to help Jesse along the way.”

Trump then took the opportunity to criticize Obama, adding: “Jesse was a force of nature like few others before him. He had much to do with the Election, without acknowledgment or credit, of Barack Hussein Obama, a man who Jesse could not stand.”

Trump concluded his message by highlighting Jackson’s love for his family and extending his condolences to them.
