President Donald Trump has shared further information about the military operations in Venezuela involving the ‘capture’ of President Maduro and his wife.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated: “We were going to do this four days ago but the weather was not perfect.
“The weather has to be perfect… all of a sudden it opened up and we said go.”
According to Trump, when Maduro was apprehended, he was inside a residence described as ‘more like a fortress than a house’ with ‘solid steel all around’.
Commenting on the US soldiers involved, he mentioned that ‘a couple of guys were hit but they came back and they’re supposed to be in pretty good shape’.
The US military conducted strikes on Caracas, the capital city of Venezuela, in the early hours of Saturday.
Footage of the military actions has begun to appear on social media. Shortly after the reports of the strikes, Trump used Truth Social to confirm the US’ role and revealed that President Maduro, along with his wife, had been captured and removed from the country.
Further updates to come.
