Trump gave bizarre reason Barron is so tall as photo of his kids has everyone distracted by glaring detail

President Donald Trump has offered up an explanation about why his youngest son, Barron Trump, is so tall.

Given the family’s genetics, Barron’s height isn’t entirely unexpected. Trump is listed at 6ft 3, while Melania is listed at 5ft 11, making it fairly easy to see where the “tall gene” could come from.

Still, a recent family photo posted online sparked a new wave of reactions, with many people focusing on just how much Barron stands out. The teenager—reported to be somewhere between 6ft 7 and 6ft 9—appeared noticeably taller than everyone else in the shot.

The image was shared by his half-sister Ivanka Trump ahead of Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday (February 24).

Also pictured were Tiffany Trump and her husband Michael Boulos, Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner, and Donald Jr. with his girlfriend Bettina Anderson.

Comments quickly rolled in under the post, with one person writing: “Barron is so tall!”

Another added: “Wow! Look how tall Barron is!”

And a third joked: “What are you feeding Barron?”

Trump has previously shared his own take on Barron’s height, pointing to Melania’s mother, Amalija Knavs, and the meals she made for him at home.

Speaking in 2024 to crowds in Iowa, he said: “Great people, great parents to all of us, really. Great parents, but also to Barron. Boy, did she take care of Barron.

“That’s how he got so tall, he only ate her food.

“I said you’re gonna be a basketball player. He said, well I like soccer dad, actually. I thought… at you’re height I like basketball better but you can’t talk them into everything.”

Barron is Trump’s youngest son and is currently studying at New York University. He recently moved to its DC campus, which allowed him to return to living at The White House.

“He’s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he is a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student. And he does like politics. It’s sort of funny,” Trump told Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT.

Trump has also spoken positively about his relationship with his children, saying he feels fortunate with the direction their lives have taken.

“I’m lucky, you have to be a little bit lucky too… They’re good kids and they work hard,” he said.

“… We have a very good relationship.”
