Trump posts jaw-dropping clip of massive blast in Iran reportedly caused by US airstrike

Donald Trump has shared a shocking video on social media that appears to capture the moment an Iranian ammunition depot was hit as the conflict continues.

The US has been fighting Iran for four weeks after strikes began in late February as part of a joint operation with Israel.

Although the president has suggested the fighting could be nearing its conclusion — claiming it was ‘pretty much complete’ — the footage he posted to Truth Social in recent hours indicates airstrikes are still underway.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, an official said a ‘high volume’ of 2,000-pound bunker buster bombs was used in an attack close to the Iranian city of Isfahan, which is said to be among the country’s ‘missile cities’.

The post, which did not include a caption, shows what is believed to be the targeted depot burning intensely, with thick smoke rising into the air.

The Baluch advocacy group HalVash circulated the same clip alongside additional videos. NASA fire-detection satellites also indicate blasts in the vicinity of Mount Soffeh, an area thought to contain military positions.

A source quoted by the Journal said the video depicted a strike in Isfahan, roughly 270 miles south of Tehran.

Isfahan also hosts one of the three uranium enrichment facilities hit by the US during the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel in June.

Some of Iran’s highly enriched uranium is believed to be entombed at the site — and the US has indicated it could attempt to seize it using ground forces, after thousands of troops were deployed to the country in recent days.

Even so, the US is reportedly ‘in talks’ with Iran about ending the war. Trump has warned of large-scale attacks on Iran’s energy assets and other critical infrastructure if an agreement is not reached soon, a stance that may help explain the decision to send troops into Iran.

Trump said yesterday (March 30) that he was holding discussions with Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf. The former Revolutionary Guard commander has been mentioned as a potential negotiating counterpart, but he has denied Iran is speaking with the US and claimed Pakistan-facilitated discussions were simply a cover for American troop deployments.

Airstrikes then struck around Tehran early this morning (March 31).

Earlier, the Israeli military posted an online warning indicating it planned to carry out a strike in Vardavard, a western neighbourhood.
