Trump Reacts Sharply to Approval Ratings Reflecting Public Opinion 10 Months into Presidency

Donald Trump has reacted to recent approval ratings, and it’s clear from his response that he’s not pleased.

As Trump approaches the tenth month of his second term in the White House, approval ratings are painting a less-than-flattering portrait of his presidency.

A specific approval rating was released by The Economist, highlighting Trump’s current popularity. This prompted Trump to launch into a social media outburst directed at pollsters.

Trump has a history of criticizing opinion polls, having previously challenged Fox News after their survey last month showed that 52 percent of Americans believe the economy has worsened under his administration.

The latest data from The Economist echoes similar sentiments.

The Economist poll reveals that Trump’s net approval rating stands at -17 percent after 10 months in office, marking a 0.5-point decline from the previous week, amid ongoing government shutdown issues.

Only five percent of those surveyed reported being ‘not sure’ about their opinion on Trump, making it the smallest demographic group in the poll.

Currently, 39 percent of respondents expressed a favorable opinion of Trump.

The largest segment, however, consists of those who disapprove of Trump, comprising 56 percent of the respondents, indicating a growing disapproval rate.

The -15 approval rating, according to The Economist, aligns with where it stood at a similar point during Trump’s first term.

On the other hand, Nate Silver’s Silver Bulletin poll, which aggregates Trump’s net approval from various sources, reported a rating of -9.5 as of October 27.

Trump’s reaction to these poll numbers has been less than favorable.

Expressing his views on Truth Social, his own social media platform, Trump stated: “After winning THREE Elections, BY A LOT, I am now getting the best Polling Numbers that I have ever received.”

It’s important to note that Trump has officially won two presidential elections—first in 2016 and later in 2024. However, some of his supporters continue to assert that he was victorious in 2020 as well.

Trump continued: “People see how strong the Economy is, the Trillions of Dollars of Investment pouring into our Country, the Record Setting Strong Border (After years of millions of criminals pouring through it, totally unvetted and unchecked!), ending 8 wars in eight months, no men playing in women’s sports, no transgender for everyone, rapidly falling Energy prices, and much more!”

He further criticized the polls, without specifying which ones he was referring to: “Despite all of this, the Radical Left Losers are taking fake ads, not showing REAL Polls, but rather saying that I’m Polling at low levels.

“These are the people that I’ve been beating for years, and am continuing to do so, but by even bigger margins. These ads should not be allowed to run because they are FAKE!”
