Trump remains open to all options, asserts US will ‘definitely’ acquire Greenland

Donald Trump remains steadfast in his pursuit of integrating Greenland into the United States, asserting in a recent interview that he believes it will eventually happen.

President Trump has consistently expressed a genuine interest in acquiring Greenland, not just as a casual topic of discussion.

In a fresh interview, he hinted that while military action is an option, he ultimately anticipates Greenland becoming part of the US through other means.

During an appearance on NBC this past Saturday (March 29), Trump reiterated the US’s ambition to bring Greenland under its jurisdiction.

He emphasized that all strategies are being considered to transition Greenland, currently an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, into US possession.

Trump stated: “We’ll get Greenland. Yeah, 100 percent.

“Good possibility that we could do it without military force. I don’t take anything off the table.”

He further elaborated that the United States’ interest in Greenland is primarily driven by the geopolitical activities of China and Russia in the area.

Trump added: “You have ships sailed outside Greenland from Russia, from China, and from many other places. And we’re not going to allow things to happen that are going to be—that are going to hurt the world or the United States.”

However, the President seemed unfazed by what the annexation of Greenland might signal to Russia.

He commented: “I don’t really think about that. I don’t really care. Greenland’s a very separate subject, very different. It’s international peace. It’s international security and strength.”

Trump’s remarks align with earlier statements he made, stressing the importance of this acquisition for global security.

Speaking in the Oval Office on March 28, he stated: “We need Greenland.

“Very importantly, for international security, we have to have Greenland. It’s not a question of, ‘Do you think we can do without it?’ We can’t.

“If you look at Greenland right now, if you look at the waterways, you have Chinese and Russian ships all over the place, and we’re not going to be able to do that. We’re not relying on Denmark or anybody else to take care of that situation.”

Despite the ongoing discussions and the clear intentions of Trump’s administration to acquire Greenland, the populace of Greenland, alongside both Greenlandic and Danish politicians, have consistently stated that the territory is not available for purchase and they remain disinterested in such a transaction.
