Donald Trump has shared his perspective in anticipation of his upcoming meeting with Vladimir Putin, as the two leaders are scheduled to hold discussions in Alaska today.
The President of the United States is set to meet Putin at a summit today (August 15), following threats of additional sanctions and tariffs on Russia if a peace agreement is not reached with Ukraine.
Scheduled to occur in Anchorage, both leaders will arrive with their delegations for the conference. Footage has shown Air Force One ready and waiting at the Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Baltimore, for the President’s departure.
Russia’s seasoned foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, is already present, stating that Russia ‘never plans ahead’ before the conference, according to the Independent.
On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump previously announced: “The highly anticipated meeting between myself, as President of the United States of America, and President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Great State of Alaska.
“Further details to follow. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Meanwhile, Putin views the talks as an opportunity to ‘create long-term conditions for peace between our countries, as well as in Europe, and in the world as a whole’.
Trump has once again turned to Truth Social, sharing a concise message ahead of the meeting.
“HIGH STAKES,” he posted on the platform.
In response, his supporters expressed confidence in his ability to restore peace to the region, acknowledging the high stakes but believing he is the right person for the task.
One supporter remarked: “Wishing President Trump the best of luck in today’s high stakes meeting with President Putin may it lead to peace, strength, and a safer world. MAGA.”
Another commented: “The stakes have never been higher.”
Earlier, Trump claimed that Putin was ‘not going to mess around with me’.
Furthermore, he criticized the media’s portrayal of the meeting, stating: “Very unfair media is at work on my meeting with Putin.
“Constantly quoting fired losers and really dumb people like John Bolton, who just said that, even though the meeting is on American soil, ‘Putin has already won.’ What’s that all about? We are winning on EVERYTHING.”
In the post, the President made an error, referring to Saint Petersburg as Leningrad, stating: “The Fake News is working overtime (No tax on overtime!). If I got Moscow and Leningrad free, as part of the deal with Russia, the Fake News would say that I made a bad deal! But now they’ve been caught. Look at all of the real news that’s coming out about their CORRUPTION.
“They are sick and dishonest people, who probably hate our Country. But it doesn’t matter because we are winning on everything!!! MAGA.”
