During a recent interview, Donald Trump was questioned about his views on Elon Musk, to which he offered a candid response.
Musk had shown his support for Trump in the 2024 Presidential Election by endorsing him both publicly and financially. Subsequently, Musk was tasked with leading DOGE, focusing on reducing government spending and tackling the country’s large debt.
By December 2024, Musk decided to step down from his position within the Trump administration, ending his involvement with DOGE.
Despite their past collaboration, Trump and Musk have found themselves at odds publicly, with Trump expressing his ‘disappointment’ over Musk’s actions.
The disagreement began following Trump’s announcement of a new legislative proposal that promised significant tax cuts and spending changes. Musk criticized the proposal, calling it a ‘disgusting abomination’ and suggesting it would negate his efforts at DOGE.
The situation escalated when Musk accused Trump of being involved in the Jeffrey Epstein files. However, Musk later removed the tweets, indicating a potential shift in their public dispute.
Recently, it seems Trump and Musk are mending their relationship. In October, Trump mentioned they were back on speaking terms after their disagreements.
In a conversation with Joe Rogan in November, Musk acknowledged that although Trump isn’t ‘perfect,’ he isn’t as ‘evil’ as some portray him to be.
Now, the U.S. president and the tech mogul have shared a meal, with Musk hinting at promising developments for everyone by 2026.
During a session on Air Force One on Sunday (Jan. 4), following the capture of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro, Trump commented on his current views about Musk.
“Elon’s great,” Trump stated enthusiastically, adding, “He’s 80% super genius and 20% he makes mistakes, but he’s a good guy. He’s a well-meaning person.”
Musk shared a photo of their meeting on his social media platform X on Sunday, captioning it: “Had a lovely dinner last night with @ POTUS and @ FLOTUS.”

Fox News reported that the picture was taken on Saturday night at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, where Trump recently hosted peace talks with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy concerning the conflict with Russia.
This meeting came after a previous confrontation between Trump and Zelenskyy, which was captured during a February 2025 meeting at the White House.
