President Donald Trump offered an unexpected insight into the first lady’s underwear habits during a recent political rally.
Speaking to voters in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, on Friday, December 19, ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, the 79-year-old’s speech took an unexpected turn while discussing government policies and inflation.
Trump digressed from his prepared remarks to recount the FBI’s 2022 search of his Mar-a-Lago residence, eventually leading to a discussion about his wife’s underwear.
Reflecting on the high-profile search at his Palm Beach, Florida estate, Trump told attendees, “They went into my wife’s closet … they looked at her drawers.”
He continued with a detailed description of Melania’s organization habits, asserting that she is very meticulous.
“Her undergarments, sometimes referred to as panties, are folded perfect, wrapped. They’re, like, so perfect.”
Trump expressed admiration for his 55-year-old wife’s care for her undergarments, adding, “I think that she steams them.”
It’s hard to imagine a billionaire’s wife doing her own laundry, but whether she’s steaming her underwear or someone else is tasked with it, it’s certainly an intriguing tidbit!
The raid Trump referenced took place in August 2022 as part of an investigation related to presidential records.
Earlier that year, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) reported that 15 boxes of documents were taken from the White House and kept at Mar-a-Lago, contrary to regulations requiring such records to be transferred at the end of a presidency.
After the search, the warrant and property receipt were released, revealing investigators were seeking evidence of potential obstruction of justice, destruction or concealment of records, or violations of the Espionage Act.
During the operation, agents recovered 11 sets of classified materials, including documents labeled ‘top secret’, usually reviewed only in secure government facilities.
In June 2023, Trump was indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly mishandling classified documents, becoming the first former US president to face federal criminal charges. He was arrested and appeared in a Florida federal court, where he pleaded not guilty.
Though additional charges emerged, the case was dismissed in July 2024.
Nonetheless, the rally highlighted an unexpected fact: First Lady Melania Trump steams her underwear before folding it neatly in her drawers!
