Donald Trump has sparked fresh speculation after sharing a “Trump 2028” poster on Truth Social.
The post was one of several unusual images he uploaded overnight. Among them was an AI-made picture showing Trump beside former presidents Abraham Lincoln and George Washington as they appeared to sign a map of the United States.
He also shared another image of himself dressed not in his usual suit and tie, but in what looked like an army general’s uniform.
While those pictures are clearly fictional, the “Trump 2028” image has led to renewed questions about whether he wants people talking about another White House run.
In the AI-generated poster, Trump is shown in a blue suit and red tie, standing above the slogan “Trump 2028 Make America Great Again,” with supporters in red MAGA hats gathered below.
Unlike many of his Truth Social updates, these posts were not accompanied by any lengthy explanation. The posting spree comes as Trump has dramatically increased his use of AI-generated content on the platform. In May, he posted on Truth Social an astounding 861 times, with the equivalent of posting just over once every hour of every day. The Sunday posting spree saw him share 43 images between 11:16 a.m. and 5:16 p.m. ET, a majority of which appeared to be AI-generated caricatures or deepfakes.
It is not the first time Trump has spoken publicly about serving beyond a second term. At a recent White House Correspondents’ Dinner, he made light of the idea by announcing his “intention to run for a fourth term as president of the United States” while wearing a “Trump 2028” cap and speaking to reporters in the room.
“I won three times, now I’m going to do it again,” he said, putting on his red cap.
He returned to the topic again this week during remarks in the Oval Office, saying: “We’ll have a big percentage of the chip business by the time I leave office, which could be a long time. Who knows? But it could also be fairly quick. They say two-and-a-half years. We’re gonna find out.”
Even so, Trump has previously acknowledged that a third elected term is not allowed. Senior Republicans have downplayed the idea as well. House Speaker Mike Johnson stated that Trump was simply “having a good time… trolling,” and emphasized that “There is the 22nd Amendment… the president knows.”
The 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, states that no person can be elected president more than twice. It was enacted as a direct response to Franklin D. Roosevelt, who served four consecutive terms from 1932 to 1945.
Another AI image posted by Trump featured Rosie O’Donnell portrayed as a hospital patient, with Trump cast as the doctor.
In that image, he is shown holding a clipboard stating she had an “obsessive Trump fixation.”
The clipboard also listed a “meltdown triggered by Trump news” and a “loss of composure.”
Trump has been especially active on Truth Social in recent days. On Sunday alone, he reportedly made 43 posts, many of which were AI-generated images that mixed self-aggrandizing fantasy scenes with attacks on entertainers, journalists and political figures. Some featured him in heroic, larger-than-life roles, styled as a sci-fi protagonist and traveling through time to rescue George Washington, while others depicted him standing atop an Iranian oil tanker declaring it under American control.
When the BBC asked the White House about where the content came from, they told them: “We don’t discuss internal deliberations of how the process works.”
Many of those posts focused on the Iran war and territorial claims, though one also showed an AI-generated image of Trump standing outside the White House with John F. Kennedy. Others included Trump as Elvis Presley in a bedazzled jumpsuit, an image showing him kissing a golden statue of Jesus Christ, and scenes depicting him overlooking Greenland and portraying Venezuela as America’s 51st state.
In a further statement, the White House told the outlet: “President Trump offers his unfiltered and direct thoughts to the American people, without the biased media taking him out of context.”
