Trump has resumed his presidency for a second term beginning in January, and describing the subsequent changes as significant would be a considerable understatement.
The 47th president has enacted numerous executive orders, including redesignating the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and legislation to eliminate the Department of Education—a measure that has seen recent legal developments this week.
Jon Stewart, host of “The Daily Show,” has never hesitated to critique the president and has made a troubling forecast regarding how he anticipates the Trump administration will conclude its tenure.
Stewart opened by condemning Trump’s pending $20 billion legal action against CBS News and Paramount, where the president alleges the network interfered with the 2024 election following an interview with Kamala Harris.
“But what you’re seeing now is, all must pay tribute to the king,” Stewart remarked during “The Bill Simmons Podcast.”
The television host continued by expressing his willingness to continue hosting “The Daily Show” “until the company is bought out by people that don’t want anything to do with The Daily Show.”
“And then who the f*** knows what’s going to happen. I mean, look what they’re doing now to ’60 Minutes’ and CBS News and everything else,” he elaborated.
“Now you can make comments about, ‘Well, I think I didn’t like the way they edited it in the way that oftentimes people don’t like the way they edited it. But it certainly doesn’t rise to the level of libel, slander, or whatever the f*** else they’re doing with a $2 billion lawsuit. It’s a purely subjective editorial decision,” Stewart stated regarding Harris’ CBS interview before the November election.
After criticizing other media organizations for their compliance with the Trump administration, Stewart offered a pessimistic perspective on what lies ahead.
“So ultimately, at the end of this, does Trump burn our f***** country down for insurance money? Like where are we headed?,” he questioned.
When Trump reached his 100-day milestone in office last month, Stewart was quick to share his commentary on “The Daily Show.”
Stewart observed: “Trump’s first 100 days is like if America landed on the moon and killed Bin Laden in the same mission! Thought you could hide on the moon, Bin Laden? Get him, boys!’ According to Trump, the most successful 100 days in the history of our country. Can anyone offer a counterpoint?”
