Two Individuals Successfully Converse Through Dreams in ‘Revolutionary’ Experiment

A significant scientific advancement has been reached, this time concerning dreams.

A California-based start-up claims to have demonstrated that lucid dreams can facilitate a novel form of communication.

REMspace, a neurotechnology firm specializing in enhancing sleep and promoting lucid dreaming, used specially designed equipment to guide two volunteers into lucid dreams, enabling them to exchange messages.

Although many have heard of lucid dreams, the question remains: what exactly are they?

According to REMspace, lucid dreams possess two main characteristics. The first is that “practitioners possess full, conscious awareness during the experience”.

The second attribute is that “practitioners recognize a genuine separation from the physical body”.

In essence, individuals are aware they are dreaming while they are still in the dream state.

To determine that the participants communicated during lucid dreaming, researchers monitored their brain waves and other polysomnographic data using specialized equipment.

Once the first participant entered a lucid dream state, a server generated a random word in Remmyo, the first electromyographical language, and transmitted it to them via earbuds.

In their dream, the participant repeated the word.

Eight minutes later, the second participant entered a lucid dream and received the initial message.

This was confirmed when she awoke and reported the word she had heard.

Remarkably, the participants who exchanged the message were not even in the same location; they were in different houses.

The study took place on September 24.

Discussing the groundbreaking achievement, Michael Raduga, the founder and CEO of REMspace, stated: “Yesterday, communicating in dreams seemed like science fiction. Tomorrow, it will be so common we won’t be able to imagine our lives without this technology.”

As quoted by BusinessWire, he added: “This opens the door to countless commercial applications, reshaping how we think about communication and interaction in the dream world. That’s why we believe that REM sleep and related phenomena, like lucid dreams, will become the next big industry after AI.”

The experiment’s success is the culmination of five years of dedicated research and technological innovation.

REMspace now aims to facilitate real-time communication within lucid dreams.

The company reportedly plans to realize this vision by 2025.

Stay tuned for further developments!
