A TikTok sensation has stirred up controversy with a video that seemingly shows her getting tan lines tattooed onto her skin. However, there could be more to the story than initially apparent.
In a video released in January, influencer Ana Stanskovsky appeared to make the bold choice to get tan lines permanently inked, sparking debate. The video’s caption suggested her desire to look ‘tanned all year round,’ which drew a mixed response from viewers.
Initially posted on her TikTok account, Ana’s video soon made its way across various social media platforms, leading some to wonder if this might signal a new tattoo trend.
In a subsequent post, Ana assured viewers that the tattoos would remain ‘as bold as they are now.’ She confidently stated, “You’ll see next summer there’s going to be everyone walking around with them because it’s such a good idea. Sometimes you have to be the first one to do it and then the crowd will follow.”
While some individuals commented that adults have the freedom to choose their tattoos, others criticized the idea as foolish.
A Twitter user remarked: “People are free to do what they want with their own bodies. Personally… I think it’s nuts.” Another added: “Just when you thought people had found rock bottom, a new standard is discovered.” A third commented: “What on Earth? Why? Why? Why? No this should not be a trend. I’m sorry you’re feeling unsatisfied about your tan, but this goes too far.”
Nevertheless, some remain doubtful, suggesting that the video might be a stunt, with tattoo enthusiasts pointing out clues that it might not be genuine.
Adding to the skepticism, Ana’s recent TikTok videos do not display the supposed tattoo. Although she has not officially confirmed it was a ruse, Ana has previously created similar ‘fake tattoos.’
The influencer previously ignited debates online after announcing she was getting her boyfriend’s name, Kevin, tattooed on her forehead in 2023. This, like her ‘tan lines tattoo,’ faced significant backlash.
At that time, a user commented: “Ok ok this is to the young people that want to do some dumb tattoos without thinking about.” Another remarked: “If they break up she’s going to have to get Kevin the minion tattooed on her face to cover it up.” A third mentioned: “Kevin better pack his bags and runnnnnnn.” As it turns out, the tattoo wasn’t real. In a follow-up video, Ana revealed her reasoning and the broader message behind the stunt.
In the clarification video, Ana wiped away the ‘Kevin’ tattoo on her forehead, explaining she aimed to caution young people or anyone contemplating tattoos about possible regrets. She shared that she regrets some of her real tattoos, having ignored advice from friends and family regarding potential future remorse.
Given her history of orchestrating faux tattoo pranks, it wouldn’t be surprising if she attempted another.
