The United States Attorney General has announced the charges facing Maduro after reports surfaced that he had been apprehended by the US military.
In an unexpected development, Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, was targeted by the US military early on Saturday morning.
Footage of the military strikes has begun circulating on social media, sparking numerous questions among viewers.
Shortly after news of the strikes emerged, Trump utilized Truth Social to confirm US involvement and revealed another surprising update: Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro had been captured and removed from the country.
In his social media message, he stated: “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country.

“This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow. There will be a News Conference today at 11 A.M., at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Subsequently, US Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed, according to a BBC report, that both Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been indicted in the Southern District of New York.
Addressing Maduro’s charges, she specified that he faces accusations of ‘Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States’.
Bondi further stated: “They will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts.
“A huge thank you to our brave military who conducted the incredible and highly successful mission to capture these two alleged international narco traffickers.”
No specific charges against his wife were mentioned by Bondi.
In response to the strikes, Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodríguez stated that the government lacks information regarding the president’s location and has demanded the US provide ‘immediate proof of life’ for him and his wife.
Moreover, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López has outlined Venezuela’s response to what is seen as a significant escalation by the US amid ongoing tensions.
López reportedly urged unity and resistance against what he termed the ‘worst aggression’ ever faced by the country.
He also mentioned that the nation was following ‘Maduro’s orders’ to deploy all armed forces.
