A man was left bewildered when he noticed a dog barking and roaming around the summit of the Great Pyramid of Giza.
While flying his powered paraglider near the Great Pyramid in Egypt, Alex Lang noticed something unusual in the distance.
Curious, he decided to get a closer look.
Upon approaching the enigmatic figure, he discovered something unexpected—a dog had somehow reached the pinnacle of the 455-foot monument and was barking at ‘birds’.
The video captured by Lang went viral after being shared by Marshall Mosher, an adventure athlete, amassing an impressive 592,300 likes on Instagram.
Viewers were amazed by the dog’s feat but were left pondering the same question: how did it manage to get up there?
One viewer remarked: “I wonder how long it took him. I want him to come down and get some water.”
Another expressed doubt: “No way a dog can climb the huge blocks alone.”
Someone joked: “Not a dog. That is the Egyptian God Anubis. He is considered the guide of the dead in the afterlife and the protector of the tombs. That’s why it is over the pyramid”.
Yet another Instagram user quipped: “Must’ve heard they worshipped cats. We’ll see about that now.”
The Great Pyramid, constructed from 2580-2565 BC during Pharaoh Khufu’s reign, is the largest of the Giza pyramids.
As one of the ancient world’s wonders, the pyramid has puzzled archaeologists for ages and continues to attract millions of tourists annually.
However, while the dog’s ascent is remarkable, climbing to the top is prohibited for humans. Violators could face up to three years in prison, and in 2016, a teenager was barred from Egypt after making the climb.
The viral video was also shared by Colin Rugg, who has 1.5 million followers on X, previously known as Twitter, garnering 10,000 likes.
Rugg commented: “Dog spotted hanging out on the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.
“The man who filmed the incident from his powered paraglider says the dog was barking at birds.
“The Great Pyramid of Giza is a whopping 450 feet tall meaning the dog had to take a long hike to the top.”
One person commented: “Sometimes you just gotta climb the highest hill and bark at some birds.”
Another jested: “That is his pyramid now. He conquered it.”
“That dog has lived a life most of us can only dream of,” added another viewer.
