People have noted the irony of Donald Trump tripping on the steps of Air Force One after previously ridiculing Joe Biden for a similar incident.
Approaching his 79th birthday, Trump boarded his presidential aircraft on June 8, accompanied by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as they traveled to Camp David in Maryland.
As Trump ascended the stairs, he stumbled but quickly regained his balance. He continued on without acknowledging the slip.
Coincidentally, Rubio also had a brief misstep on the stairs.
Despite Trump’s attempt to brush off the incident, online commentators were quick to highlight his past remarks about Biden’s similar situation.
In 2023, Trump remarked, “Joe Biden can’t even walk up a flight of stairs on Air Force One and he can’t put two sentences together. […] We have somebody that doesn’t have a clue representing us.”
Now, two years later, Trump finds himself the subject of similar jests.
One Twitter user humorously suggested, “I’m surprised he hasn’t replaced those stairs with a portable escalator of some kind,” while another tweeted, “When do they get the wheelchair for him? Someone ask Jake Tapper to find out.”
“Time to get Old Man Trump fitted for a wheelchair,” added another commenter.
On Reddit, a user joked, “He must ‘step’ down immediately…That was the bar for stepping down for Biden, right?”
Some defended Trump, arguing the stumble was not significant.
A commenter shared, “I stumbled walking the stairs to a concert last night. Sh*t happens.”
“That’s a steep climb for anyone,” another defended. “He recovered nicely. I give him an 8.5 for the recovery.”
Another Twitter user echoed this, saying Trump handled the fall ‘like a champ’.
Meanwhile, Trump faces other challenges beyond the trip, including riots in Los Angeles and a public spat with Elon Musk.
The disagreement has unfolded on social media, with both parties exchanging criticisms.
In a recent twist, Musk retracted his allegations about Trump being linked to Jeffrey Epstein, removing his explosive tweet.
