Video reemerges showing moment Jimmy Fallon realized he ‘missed his chance’ with Nicole Kidman before her marriage to Keith Urban

Footage has re-emerged showing a painfully awkward moment when Jimmy Fallon discovered he had missed a chance at romance with Nicole Kidman before her marriage to Keith Urban.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban got married in June 2006, having met in Los Angeles the previous year. They have two daughters, Sunday Rose, now 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

Nearly two decades later, Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on September 30, citing irreconcilable differences.

A source familiar with the situation told PEOPLE that Kidman ‘didn’t want’ the divorce and had been ‘fighting to save the marriage.’ However, had a past meeting with Fallon gone differently, Kidman might never have ended up with Urban.

During a 2005 appearance on his talk show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Kidman recounted an unusual encounter with Fallon when she was still single. She mentioned being told by a friend that Fallon was interested in meeting her.

Fallon seemed to have no memory of the encounter as Kidman continued: “You’re there in a baseball cap… and you wouldn’t talk, you didn’t say anything, you were like, ‘hey’.”

“And then you put a video game on or something, and I’m like ‘this is so bad’.”

Unsurprisingly, the meeting—romantic or otherwise—did not go well, leading Fallon to fall to the floor in embarrassment during his own show.

The clip of Kidman’s story has resurfaced following her divorce from Urban, with some viewers labeling it ‘the best interview of all time.’

“Men really do fumble the most gorgeous women,” commented another viewer.

Later, in an interview with 20 Questions: On Deadline, Fallon shared his recollection of the meeting with Kidman. He explained that she had come to his apartment after a conversation with a mutual friend while looking to cast her love interest for the 2005 film Bewitched.

The talk show host elaborated: “I thought [she’d come over] for this movie she was doing, Bewitched, which Will Ferrell ended up getting […] I thought it was a chemistry thing.”

Fallon realized too late that he had misunderstood the situation, admitting, “My face just melted. It was the most embarrassing thing.”

Following her breakup with Urban, Kidman has requested in court documents to be the primary residential parent of their two daughters.
