Fans are clamoring for another season of a beloved series due to their immense enjoyment of it.
With an abundance of content available on streaming platforms like Hulu, Prime Video, and Netflix, it can be challenging to decide what to watch. Fortunately, fellow TV and film enthusiasts have highlighted a must-watch show that initially premiered in 2016.
Adding to its allure, the series is inspired by a true story.
Titled Animal Kingdom, viewers can currently binge six seasons on Prime Video.
The show’s synopsis states: “17-year-old Joshua ‘J’ Cody moves in with his freewheeling relatives in their Southern California beach town after his mother dies of a heroin overdose.
“Headed by boot-tough matriarch Janine ‘Smurf’ Cody and her right-hand Baz, who runs the business and calls the shots, the clan also consists of Pope, the oldest and most dangerous of the Cody boys; Craig, the tough and fearless middle son; and Deran, the troubled, suspicious ‘baby’ of the family.”
Animal Kingdom features an impressive cast including Finn Cole from Peaky Blinders, Ellen Barkin, Scott Speedman, and Shawn Hatosy, among others.
Nearly a decade after its debut, fans remain enthusiastic about the show.
One recent Facebook post exclaimed, “The only thing that’s missing in this show, is the 7th season, or even more.”
“The characters were complex, the acting was believable, the heists were clever and interesting. The main story line was gripping and the flashback memory storyline was just as gripping and brought everything together. A perfect show. I would give it six stars if i could. Hoping for a spin off.”
This sentiment was echoed by others, with one fan replying to the post and calling it ‘one of the best series ever’.
“This was one of our favorite series. We miss it so much,” commented another fan, while another described the show as ’10 out of 10′.
Despite the high hopes for a seventh season, it has been confirmed that there won’t be one as the sixth season was announced to be the final installment.
On January 14, 2021, TNT renewed the show for its sixth and concluding season ahead of the fifth season premiere.
Regarding a potential spin-off, showrunner Daniele Nathanson mentioned in 2022 that she ‘hadn’t heard anything’ about it.
“Those decisions are made above me,” she revealed to TV Line. “But I think the ending is supposed to feel like an ending.”
