Viewers rave about ‘must-watch’ crime drama as Netflix includes all three seasons

Enthusiasts of a captivating drama that has recently become available on Netflix are eagerly hoping for its revival by the platform.

With the arrival of a new month, Netflix introduces a fresh lineup of shows, including some beloved classics. This also signifies the departure of various content.

Nevertheless, admirers of a specific crime drama are optimistic that Netflix might breathe new life into it, nearly two years following its cancellation.

This television series aired on Starz for three seasons from 2020 to 2024, before making its way to Netflix on July 23.

Located in Provincetown, Massachusetts, the narrative follows Jackie QuiƱones (Monica Raymund), a National Marine Fisheries Service agent grappling with alcohol and drug addiction.

Her hedonistic lifestyle begins to unravel when she stumbles upon a dead body on a beach, a casualty of the local opioid epidemic.

Motivated to seek justice, Jackie throws herself into the investigation and begins her path to sobriety.

Throughout her journey, she both clashes and collaborates with detectives from the Cape Cod Interagency Narcotics Unit, becoming entangled in a web of organized crime and corruption.

Monica Raymund is joined by Amaury Nolasco from Prison Break, Riley Voelkel from The Originals, and Atkins Estimond from Inside Man.

The series, known as Hightown, has garnered enthusiastic reviews from viewers, achieving an 80 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

“This show is the real deal. It takes the viewer on a journey deep into the world of drugs and sex and really pulls the viewer in,” one social media user remarked. “Excellent acting and writing on this one. This is a must watch for sure.”

Despite this praise, some viewers expressed dissatisfaction over the series ending after three seasons.

In a scenario all too common, Hightown failed to gather a sufficiently large audience, and by early 2024, Starz was reducing its original content offerings. The drama was among several series cut in this process.

This decision left the third season with unresolved storylines, perfectly setting the stage for a fourth season that never came to be.

The third season of Hightown was released last January, leaving fans wondering if Netflix has plans to continue the series.

Supporters of the show are hopeful, with one Twitter user commenting: “Since #Hightown made its way to Netflix, can they pick it up and make another season?! That was my show.”

“I absolutely binge-watched this series… I really wish there were a season 4!” another viewer concurred, while a third participant expressed: “Hoping there will still be a season four!”

Netflix has previously revived other shows, such as Manifest, The Last Kingdom, Top Boy, and Money Heist.

However, no official announcements have been made by Netflix as of yet.

All three seasons of Hightown are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
