A disgruntled wedding attendee has revealed details about a ‘tiered’ wedding where affluent guests were given VIP treatment while others were left with less.
Class distinctions were glaringly evident at this extravagant event, where money seemed to be the key determinant of the experience.
A whistleblower highlighted the significant gap between the wealthy and less well-off guests at this major celebration.
The individual reported, “Wealthier guests were served better alcohol and food than the rest.”
The guest described how the bride and groom catered to their wealthy attendees with high-quality food and drinks, while others were left with little.
The upset guest mentioned that the groom belonged to ‘an extremely wealthy family,’ who spared no expense for the ceremony.
However, they had no say in the planning or details of the wedding day.
The guest noted that, despite their financial contribution, they had no control over how it was deployed.
They detailed how the couple hosted a ‘blazing’ hot outdoor ceremony, followed by a cocktail hour and a seven-course dinner for their 150 guests.
The Reddit user explained: “It was buffet style at the tables, so when we got the ‘main [entree]’ it was steak.”
“It was four slices of steak for eight people.”
The rant continued, highlighting that ‘two wine bottles were left at each table, and there was no bar during dinner’ for guests to enjoy.
The disparity was evident as the wealthy relished their high-end food and drinks, leaving others with a meager offering.
The individual wrote: “We slowly started to realize that the ‘very wealthy’ guests at the wedding had been [given] a lot more, [like] high-end wine bottles, scotch [and] tequila.
“And a plethora [of] more food.”
The Reddit user concluded the post by describing the disappointing end to the evening.
They wrote: “At the end of the night there was no dessert, just a table of Oreo boxes and cut-up apple slices.”
Even the wealthy noticed the classist behavior, as the ‘groom’s mother left in tears out of shame for how most guests were treated.’
This behavior did not sit well with readers, who labeled the couple as ‘cheap.’
One commenter said: “‘Tiered’ guests is a new, tacky thing.”
Another added: “It’s unfathomable to me but not entirely surprising that people behave like this,” expressing disapproval.
Someone else remarked: “What an embarrassment.”
Another user speculated on the motive behind their actions: “Now you know how wealthy people stay wealthy — [by being] super cheap.
“If you go cheap you look bad to your own family and the new in laws.”
