‘Wednesday’ Surpasses ‘Stranger Things 4’ as Most-Watched English Series in a Week

Netflix’s most recent scripted series Wednesday has surpassed Stranger Things season 4 as the most-watched English-language series in a week in Netflix history, the company announced Tuesday.

According to Netflix, fans watched over 341.2 million hours of the first season of Wednesday, which premiered on November 23 and is about Wednesday Addams and the Addams family.

After the first batch of episodes from the current season of the sci-fi series were published in June, Netflix users broke the streaming service’s previous record by viewing over 335 million hours of Stranger Things 4 in a single week.

Stranger Things 4 continues to be the most-watched Netflix English-language series in its first 28 days, with 1.35 billion hours viewed.

1.65 trillion That’s how many hours Squid Game was seen on Netflix in its first 28 days last year, making it the most-watched series on the site during that time period overall.

This year saw the release of half of the top ten most-watched English-language shows on Netflix in 28 days. Stranger Things 4 was joined on the list by DAHMER: Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (856.2 million hours viewed), Bridgerton’s second season (656.2 million hours watched), Inventing Anna (555.1 million hours watched), and Ozark’s fourth season (491 million hours watched). While Netflix had record traffic this year, it also lost customers for the first time in ten years, with more than 1 million individuals abandoning the streaming service in the first six months of the year, though it has since recovered.

Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega as the titular Addams family daughter, Morticia, and Luis Guzman as Gomez, when she enters boarding school.
