Weezer Bassist Scott Shriner’s Wife Shot by Police, Charged with Attempted Murder

Police have reported that Jillian Shriner, wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by officers and charged with attempted murder following a hit-and-run incident.

On April 8, authorities responded to a hit-and-run on the 134 Freeway in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles.

The incident led the California Highway Patrol to launch an extensive search for three suspects who had allegedly fled the crash site around 3:25 p.m. PT, according to LAPD.

During the search, officers encountered Jillian Shriner, outside her home. She was reportedly armed with a handgun, though she had no involvement in the freeway accident.

The 51-year-old allegedly ignored multiple commands from police to drop the weapon and reportedly aimed the handgun at them.

Officers responded by firing at the musician’s wife, with TMZ reporting that she was hit in the shoulder.

After being shot, the New Jersey-born author reportedly retreated into her house before reemerging with the family’s babysitter to surrender. She received treatment for a non-threatening gunshot wound at a local hospital.

A subsequent search uncovered a 9-millimeter handgun at the scene.

Jillian Shriner has been charged with attempted murder due to her actions with the police.

The LAPD confirmed that no officers or other civilians were injured during the incident and reiterated that Jillian was not linked to the initial hit-and-run.

KLTA reports that both Jillian and the babysitter have since been released from custody.

Jillian married Scott Shriner in 2005. Scott joined Weezer in 2001, replacing former bassist Mikey Welsh.

The couple, who reside in the same home, have two adopted children.

The hit-and-run incident involved multiple vehicles, causing a significant disturbance in LA and resulting in a large-scale manhunt by the police.

One individual was reportedly arrested in his underwear, while two other male suspects are still at large.

Eyewitnesses informed KTLA that one suspect fled the scene on foot.

LA police later captured the suspect near Waldo Place and Eagle Vista Drive. He is anticipated to face felony hit-and-run charges, according to CBS News.

It was reported that the suspect had stripped to his underwear and tried to blend in by swimming in a pool and tending to plants in a residential area.

A woman involved in the freeway collision was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

The two remaining suspects linked to the crash have yet to be located.
