Well-Known YouTuber Passes Away Shortly After Discussing Alarming Symptom on Livestream

A popular South Korean YouTuber with a following of 1.46 million subscribers has died at the age of 47, shortly after discussing his struggle with sleep deprivation.

Na Dong-hyun was found deceased in his Seoul residence last Saturday (September 6) after a friend reported him missing due to his absence from a planned meeting, according to The Korea Herald.

Just two days before, the YouTuber, known by his online moniker ‘Daedo Library’ or ‘Daedoseogwan’, was engaged in a live stream of the game Mabinogi. During the session, he mentioned to his audience that he had only managed ‘about three hours’ of sleep over the course of Seoul Fashion Week, which ran from September 1 to 7.

“I just came back from Fashion Week today. Fashion Week was fun. I watched the fashion shows all the way through,” Dong-hyun remarked, as reported by The Chosun.

Having been a presence on YouTube for 15 years, Dong-hyun left behind no suicide note, and authorities reported no signs of foul play when they arrived.

His former spouse, Lee Chae-won, disclosed that his death resulted from a cerebral hemorrhage in response to unfounded rumors circulating online.

“I want to make sure no more misunderstandings cause further pain, so I would like to clarify a few things,” she stated on YouTube.

“An autopsy was conducted to eliminate any doubt, and the final conclusion was that the cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage.”

She further mentioned that he was on medication for high blood pressure at the time of his death and that reports of a genetic heart issue were unfounded.

“He had no headaches and his health checkup two years ago showed no abnormalities,” Chae-won explained. “Since he did not get an MRA, the aneurysm could not be detected.”

Dong-hyun’s funeral took place at Konkuk University Medical Center on September 9, with Chae-won attending as the chief mourner at his sister’s request.

Addressing various speculations about her private life, she clarified: “When we married, he was in his first marriage, while I was divorced with a son. I prepared the newlywed home, and we split living expenses equally. When we divorced, there was no property division — each kept what we had earned.”

“It hurts to hear that I served as chief mourner for money,” she added.

“We shared years together, and I simply wanted to accompany him on his final journey. The farewell was so sudden that it is still hard to believe. But Daedo Library lived happily with his beloved family, friends, and fans. Please do not worry too much — let us hold on to the good memories.”
