Wendi McClendon-Covey speaks out on Bridesmaids reunion at Oscars after she was the only member missing

Bridesmaids fans were sent into a frenzy last night after the cast of the 2011 movie reunited at the Oscars after 15 years.

Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy and Ellie Kemper appeared together during the ceremony to present an award. The moment doubled as a mini Bridesmaids reunion, especially with Byrne also enjoying a big night thanks to her Best Actress nomination for the 2025 film If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.

Still, viewers noticed one key name missing from the lineup: Wendi McClendon-Covey, who didn’t join the group at the event.

As the reunion aired, fans quickly began asking online why she wasn’t there.

One person said: “No Wendi McClendon-Covey in that #Bridesmaids reunion? What’s up with that bullsh*t?”

Another questioned: “Where is Wendi McClendon Covey for the Bridesmaids reunion at the Oscars?”

“Oscars doing Wendi McClendon-Covey so dirty,” added a third.

McClendon-Covey later addressed the chatter herself, reassuring everyone there was no fallout behind the scenes—just a very practical reason she stayed home.

Taking to Instagram, she penned: “In response to some of the dms I’m getting: I had a neck lift last week because I’m tired of looking like a melting candle. So I had to skip the Academy Awards. No drama. Everything is fine.”

Alongside the update, she posted a photo from bed while recovering, wearing a face wrap similar to those commonly seen from brands like SKIMS.

In the comments, fans and fellow performers sent supportive messages and praised her for being candid.

Fargo star Allison Tolman wrote: “Congratulations queen, I cannot WAIT to see her. (Your neck).”

Fellow actress Christine Lakin also penned: “In a world where both an academy award and a neck lift are personal aspirations, I think I’d still choose the neck lift.”

Others echoed the sentiment, with many thanking her for being open about the procedure and wishing her a smooth recovery.

Somebody said: “I love how real this post is!!! You were missed.”

“That’s the one thing I would do if I could! Good for you… and hope you heal quickly,” said a different fan.

Someone also wrote: “Love your transparency. F-yeah! Some people can embrace that candle look but others…hell no. Either way is right as long as it makes you happy. Big healing love!”

With her recovery now underway, fans are already hoping McClendon-Covey will be back in action—and perhaps part of any future reunion moments next awards season.
