What the DJ Behind the Viral ‘Mongolian Jingle Bells’ Really Looks Like and His ‘Improved’ Version of the Song

The DJ responsible for the viral ‘Mongolian Jingle Bells’ track has recently gained significant attention – but who is he?

‘Jingle Bells’ is arguably one of the most well-known Christmas carols, a melody traditionally left untouched. However, one DJ has released a unique version, now known as the ‘Mongolian Jingle Bells’, just in time for the holiday season.

Ummet Ozcan’s fresh take on the classic has been praised as the ‘best version so far’, with listeners commenting they ‘would have way more fun shopping if this played in the stores.’

This version of the 1857 Christmas song focuses on the chorus, repeating ‘Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to ride in a Mongolian open sleigh’ while incorporating the traditional and distinctive Mongolian singing style.

After the song’s release, Dutch DJ Ozcan explained the motivation behind this reimagined Christmas classic.

“This started as a fun idea… and thanks to your insane requests, it turned into a full song and music video,” he remarked. “Hope this brings some warmth and joy in the days leading up to Christmas.”

The complete version of the song can be streamed on YouTube and Spotify; however, Ozcan does not appear in the accompanying music video.

Ozcan shared a shorter version of the song on Instagram, which a fan described as a ‘much better version’ of the holiday classic.

The social media post’s comments section was buzzing with inquiries about the new festive hit.

“Is this your voice overlaid with an AL Mongolian? Or are you generating AL music now?” someone queried.

They added: “Either way, ugh. We want the frequency of real humans makin.”

Ozcan replied: “Always my real voice. But the interesting part isn’t whether it’s AL, but whether the ‘frequency’ still reaches you.”

Through singing his own rendition, listeners could finally see the person behind the track, as Ozcan did not feature in the music video.

Originally from Turkey, Ozcan is known in the techno music scene but has previously experimented with big room house and electro house genres.

The ‘Mongolian Jingle Bells’ stands out due to its use of ‘throat singing’, a traditional Mongolian technique where a singer produces a melody by controlling their vocal cords to emit two notes at once.

It’s definitely an earworm you can’t quite shake!
