White House official dismisses Nicki Minaj’s assertion of receiving Trump’s $1 million ‘Gold Card’ amid citizenship controversy

A White House representative has addressed the rumors about Nicki Minaj receiving a ‘Gold Card’ from the president. This comes after the rapper shared an update regarding her immigration status.

Nicki Minaj, famous for hits such as ‘Super Bass’, ‘Starships’, and ‘Anaconda’, was born in Trinidad and Tobago before moving to the United States during her childhood.

At 43, Minaj has yet to obtain US citizenship and has previously described herself as an undocumented immigrant.

Recently, on January 29, Minaj tweeted about her efforts to secure American citizenship, saying: “Finalizing that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per MY wonderful, gracious, charming President.”

The rapper expressed gratitude toward a petition that suggested she be deported due to her connections with Donald Trump, as it motivated her to pursue the necessary paperwork.

She hinted at receiving one of Trump’s controversial ‘Gold cards’, which she claimed would expedite her citizenship process without cost.

Elsewhere on Twitter, she posted an image showing her holding one of these cards.

While many assumed Minaj received a card typically requiring a $1,000,000 donation and a $15,000 processing fee, the White House has clarified the situation.

An anonymous official informed The New York Times that the card presented to Minaj was merely a ‘memento’ and not an actual visa document.

Additionally, another official indicated that Minaj is a legal immigrant in the US, having been so for roughly two decades. Consequently, she is already qualified to apply for US citizenship without any special ‘Gold Card’ from the president.

UNILAD reached out to the White House for further comments.

Minaj’s connections with the current president and her conservative views have surprised many of her fans, especially since the ‘Side to Side’ artist had previously expressed reluctance to support Trump.

Back in 2020, she stated she was ‘not gonna jump on the Trump bandwagon.’ However, this year she praised the Trump administration, describing it as ‘full of people with heart and soul.’

During a discussion with Erika, Charlie Kirk’s widow, at a Turning Point USA event, Minaj commented: “This administration is full of people with heart and soul, and they make me proud of them.”

She also expressed admiration for both Trump and JD Vance, noting their ‘uncanny ability to be someone that you relate to.’
