Why Disneyland is Withholding Cause of Death for Guest After Ride

Earlier this week, a tragic incident occurred at Disneyland, resulting in the death of a woman, and the details surrounding her passing are not expected to be disclosed publicly.

On October 6, a woman in her 60s experienced a ‘medical episode’ while enjoying a popular ride at Disneyland.

This event took place on the Haunted Mansion attraction, one of Disneyland’s classic rides, which is generally not considered as intense as other roller coasters and attractions within the park.

The ride features a slow journey through dimly lit rooms with spooky projections and special effects, creating a family-friendly yet eerie experience.

On that Monday, staff noticed an unresponsive woman at the ride’s conclusion, prompting them to call emergency services at approximately 6:30 pm local time.

Before the paramedics arrived, it is believed that Disneyland staff administered CPR to the woman. She was then taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared deceased shortly thereafter.

The Anaheim Police Department later issued a brief statement regarding the death.

They stated: “This appears to be an unfortunate medical episode, and our thoughts go out to the family.”

They also clarified that there was no indication of a malfunction with the ride, which resumed operations shortly after the incident.

Disneyland has yet to release an official statement or comment on what happened, and the cause of the woman’s death remains undisclosed.

Reports suggest that the cause of death will not be revealed. Matt Sutter, the public information officer for the Anaheim Police Department, indicated that the Orange County Sheriff’s Coroner’s office did not take possession of the body after the woman’s death.

This means that no autopsy will be performed.

According to a report by People, the representative mentioned that this implies a doctor has signed the death certificate, and the family has made their own arrangements for custody of the body.

Currently, the Haunted Mansion is themed around The Nightmare Before Christmas for the Halloween and festive season. Disneyland’s website describes it as a ‘slow-moving’ ride appropriate for children, though it also notes, ‘the ride itself is gentle, but young children may be frightened by the special effects’.
