Why YouTuber Jack Doherty Could Be Facing a 7-Year Prison Sentence

Jack Doherty is potentially facing up to seven years in prison following his recent arrest in Florida.

The widely discussed YouTuber was detained in Miami on Saturday, November 15, after authorities discovered “half of an orange oval-shaped pill with 3 imprinted on it consistent with a Schedule II amphetamine,” along with three “suspected cannabis cigarettes” during a search.

Following his arrest, Doherty was taken to Miami-Dade County jail.

The influencer’s bond was set at $3,500, and he was released after about ten hours in custody. Nonetheless, Doherty could still face jail time due to three potentially serious charges.

The 22-year-old is facing a third-degree felony charge, along with two first-degree misdemeanours.

According to Florida law, third-degree felonies can result in “a term of imprisonment not exceeding five years,” while a first-degree misdemeanour could lead to a one-year prison sentence.

If found guilty and given maximum penalties for each charge, the YouTuber might spend up to seven years in prison.

This scenario represents the harshest possible outcome for Doherty. A report from Measures for Justice indicates that the average sentence for nonviolent felonies without prior convictions in the state over the past three years was 24 months.

Additionally, the report noted that less than 8.5 percent of those convicted served jail time at all, despite a conviction rate exceeding 58 percent.

This arrest follows an incident earlier this month where Doherty pranked OnlyFans model McKinley Richardson at their Las Vegas wedding ceremony, which he live-streamed.

During the ceremony, Doherty presented a pre-nuptial agreement that declared she “gets absolutely nothing when I divorce her, even if I cheat.”

“If she cheats, she automatically owes me $10 million. I’ll also receive 100 percent of her OF revenue moving forward, even if we divorce,” Doherty claimed.

Fortunately, Richardson was able to escape the situation as the wedding wasn’t legally binding.

Doherty previously stirred controversy in 2024 after crashing a $200k McLaren supercar in Miami, expressing more concern for the vehicle than for his injured cameraman in the passenger seat.

Over the weekend, Doherty documented his arrest on social media, posting a video on Instagram stating he was “free” and mentioning that NBC wanted to interview him, even naming some acquaintances he met in jail and exclaiming: “Party outside of the jail cell, let’s get it.”

Some of his new acquaintances from jail were also filmed holding a bag of possessions and asked: “How was I like in jail? Was I running that s*** or what?”
