A Florida woman uncovered a chilling truth after doing an online search of her husband’s name, which led to his subsequent arrest.
In today’s digital age, a quick Google search can reveal a treasure trove of information, and sometimes, those findings can be quite startling.
Tonya Betsey met Henry Betsey Jr. on Tinder, a popular dating platform. The two formed a strong connection and got married in Jacksonville in November 2020.
“Meeting on a dating site and the way he portrayed himself, he sold the perfect person, when in reality he was none of those things,” Tonya expressed.
Tonya soon realized her husband was involved with other women. After searching through county court records, she discovered that Betsey Jr. held marriage licenses with two additional women.
Remarkably, Tonya was Betsey Jr.’s first wife, followed by his marriages to Brandy in February 2022 and Michele in November 2022.
Tonya shared with WFTS: “I just started county by county, putting in his name. And that’s when I came up with the marriage to Michele and the marriage to Brandy.”
Michele told ABC Action News: “She found me and she messaged me, and I had no idea that she was actually still married to him.”
According to the Deccan Herald, the wives were unaware of each other’s existence, as Betsey Jr. wed in three separate counties to keep his secret under wraps.
Earlier this year, Betsey Jr., 50, admitted to a felony bigamy charge. His wives testified at the sentencing that they had all met him online before marrying him at local courthouses.
The wives alleged that Betsey Jr. married them for financial gain, claiming he sought a ‘trustworthy’ partner.
In court, Betsey Jr. stated: “I want to apologize to the ladies and I want to apologize to the court administration and to my family and friends that had to be involved in this, because ultimately this is something that I didn’t wish to be part of.”
He was sentenced to two years probation, avoiding jail time.
