Winona Ryder discloses Jeff Bridges ‘declined’ to kiss her during an audition for a compelling reason

Many people would undoubtedly line up to kiss Winona Ryder, but there was one A-list celebrity who declined.

The Stranger Things star has been part of the film industry since her teenage years, debuting in her first movie, Lucas, at 15.

Throughout her career, she’s appeared in movies such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Black Swan, among others. She is set to return to the big screen soon in the long-awaited sequel to Beetlejuice, which will be released on Friday (September 6).

Ahead of the movie’s release, Ryder appeared on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, where she discussed her extensive career.

During the discussion, Ryder reminisced about an audition she did for the 1993 movie Fearless alongside Jeff Bridges.

The 52-year-old actress shared with Horowitz: “Jeff Bridges, who I love, wouldn’t kiss me.”

She elaborated: “I was too young. At the end of the scene he was supposed to kiss me and I was like [waiting to be kissed].”

“He kissed my forehead. He’s like, ‘You’re, like, my daughter’s age.’ And I was like, ‘No!'”

Bridges is a proud father of three daughters; Isabelle, 43, Jessica, 41, and 38-year-old Hayley.

Although Ryder isn’t exactly the same age as his children, it’s easy to see his perspective.

During the same podcast, Ryder also discussed her text exchanges with Keanu Reeves.

The two stars worked together in Bram Stoker’s Dracula in 1992 and have maintained a friendship ever since.

She jokingly refers to Reeves as her ‘husband’ because they supposedly got married while filming Dracula over 30 years ago.

“On his birthday it’s always like ‘Happy Birthday, my husband!’ and I’ll [sign it off] Noni,” Ryder shared.

“He’s always like ‘Hey, wife! Love you KR57’. On each birthday he’s like ‘KR57′ or whatever his age is. He’s always done that.”

When asked if she would ever star in one of Reeves’ John Wick movies, Ryder seemed hesitant.

She mentioned she would only consider it if it didn’t involve any stunts, as she was mindful of her physical well-being.

Given the action-packed nature of all four John Wick movies, it seems unlikely that the fifth film, which is currently in development, will differ in this regard. Sorry, Winona!
