A woman has been taken into custody for allegedly posting threats on social media to kill Donald Trump.
Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, was detained in Columbia on Saturday, August 16. Authorities have charged her concerning a series of posts on Instagram and Facebook that allegedly threatened the life of the President.
The US District Court has accused her of making threats to kill, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States. She is also charged with transmitting threats across state lines to kidnap or injure someone.
Prior to her arrest, Jones traveled to Washington D.C. on August 16 to join a demonstration at Dunpoint Circle near the White House. However, she reportedly denied any current intent to harm Trump when questioned by the US Secret Service.
Authorities have stated that between August 6 and 9, a user known as ‘nath.jones’ on Instagram posted a series of threatening remarks against Trump. Additionally, between August 6 and August 15, more threatening content was shared on Facebook.
The Instagram posts reportedly called for Trump’s removal from office, labeling him a ‘terrorist’ and describing his presidency as a ‘dictatorship’.
The posts also accused Trump of being responsible for the ‘extreme and unnecessary loss of life in relation to the coronavirus’.
On Facebook, Jones allegedly threatened to ‘disembowel’ the President in a post addressing the FBI, stating: “I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present.”
In another Facebook post addressed to US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, she is alleged to have written: “Please arrange the arrest and removal ceremony of POTUS Trump as a terrorist on the American People from 10-2pm at the White House on Saturday, August 16, 2025.”
During a voluntary interview with the Secret Service on August 17, Jones reportedly referred to Trump as a ‘terrorist’ and ‘Nazi’. She allegedly stated that if given the chance, she would kill him ‘at the compound’ if necessary.
She also purportedly claimed to possess a ‘bladed object’ to ‘carry out her mission of killing’ Trump as retribution for lives lost during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Department of Justice mentioned in a press release that the Secret Service is currently investigating the matter. They also stated that Jones had acknowledged ownership of the Facebook account from which the messages were posted.
US Attorney Jeanine Pirro commented: “Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution. Make no mistake—justice will be served.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated law enforcement partners, especially the Secret Service Special Agents from New York and Washington, D.C., for their tireless commitment to protecting our leaders and our nation.”
