Woman discloses unexpected ‘terrible side-effect’ after using well-known weight loss drug

A woman has shared an unexpected ‘side effect’ she experienced after using a popular weight loss medication.

Weight loss injections like Mounjaro are becoming increasingly popular in the US and globally.

In the United States, there’s been a significant surge in the use of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) antagonists, with a 700 percent increase over four years among non-diabetic users, according to a 2024 report.

Mounjaro is among the top three GLP-1 drugs people are turning to, functioning by slowing digestion so that you feel full longer on less food.

For Lillie Woodall (a pseudonym), this came with an unexpected twist.

She wrote an article for the Daily Mail about her journey, noting how she was a size 18 before starting the weight loss injection, eventually slimming down to a size 12.

She revealed that before using Mounjaro, she had struggled with cravings.

Now, she doesn’t feel hungry and has avoided junk food for weeks.

After shedding 42 pounds and dropping three dress sizes, she feels healthier than ever.

However, her weight loss came with an unexpected side effect: her judgment.

Comparing herself to ex-smokers who rave about their improved senses, she said, “a ‘former fatty like me beats you hands down’.”

In her article for the Daily Mail, she admitted she can’t help but think: “Whenever I see an overweight person, I want to march up to them and ask why on Earth they aren’t taking Ozempic, Mounjaro or some other form of skinny jab.”

She explained that many people who are overweight deal with ‘yo-yo dieting’ and end up on ‘miserable’ diets. Now, she feels transformed.

Discussing Mounjaro’s benefits, she commented: “Is it any wonder I want to recruit those struggling as I once was and convert them to the new religion of jabbing? Freedom from yo-yo dieting, freedom from excessive ‘food noise’ and the opportunity to fit back into all the clothes you haven’t worn for years.”

She mentioned judging a family she thought were making unhealthy grocery choices, while also recalling the feelings of being ‘tubby and preached at’—the embarrassment, the upset, and the ‘total and utter fury.’

She recalled that her ex-friend, who used to scrutinize her eating habits, is someone she hasn’t contacted in two years.

This, she says, is why she hasn’t approached anyone to discuss their weight issues.

With this new judgment as an unexpected ‘side effect’, she hopes others will consider using weight loss injections for their health’s sake.

Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Mounjaro, stated: “Mounjaro (tirzepatide) should only be used when prescribed by a licensed healthcare professional, and prescriptions should be fulfilled and supplied by registered pharmacies or providers.

“We encourage patients to consult their doctor or other healthcare professional to discuss any possible side effects they may be experiencing and to ensure that they are getting genuine Lilly medicine.”
