A woman who spends nine months a year on a world cruise has opened up about her life aboard the luxurious vessel.
While a sailor’s life might not suit everyone, it certainly appeals to one travel enthusiast who embarks on a cruise ship journey for the majority of the year. Her adventure starts and ends in Miami, covering all seven continents.
Angie Linderman embarked on the ‘Ultimate World Cruise’ aboard Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas. She will be away from home and work for an impressive 247 nights, visiting 11 wonders of the world across more than 60 countries.
Despite the hefty price tag of $60,000, it promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
But is it as glamorous as it sounds?
On TikTok, the 37-year-old shared insights into what it’s really like to spend three-quarters of a year on a cruise, emphasizing the need for thorough preparation.
She posted several videos to her 175,000 followers, detailing the essential items she packed for her extensive journey and how she keeps her cabin tidy.
One of the clips showcases her cabin and bathroom on the cruise, demonstrating how she fits nine months’ worth of essentials into the space, aided by a door organizer.
She explained: “On the bathroom door I’ve got extra toiletries, there are miscellaneous items like band aids, masks, bug stuff, lotions, sunscreens.
“Kind of organised, and then I’ve just got my sunglasses and other random things in here at the moment.
“The wardrobe is pretty well organised because of these hanging things that make you have a lot more hangers. I bought my own hangers and then they provided us with plastic and wooden ones.”
Angie managed to bring all necessities, including a calendar, climate-appropriate clothing, and entertaining items like jewelry, hats, a hot water bottle, fins, and a snorkel.
Prepared for the holidays, she even packed Christmas gifts and wrapping paper.
She said: “Up here is Christmas stuff, electronic stuff, food and snacks I brought, including these two boxes of chocolate that are Christmas presents.
“Over here on the coach chair area, I have my journal and my binder for the trip that held all my excursion and visa information, my little photo printer, a couple sudoku books, pens and stickers.”
Many viewers have been following her journey with excitement, though it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. She sometimes encounters cancelled ports and delays.
One TikTok video depicted an evacuation from the Guardians of the Galaxy show at Disneyland for an unspecified reason.
In her YouTube bio, Angie explains her motivation for the trip; she carries the BRCA2 gene, significantly increasing her risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
Her parents both succumbed to cancer at 65, and Angie underwent a preventative double mastectomy in January 2023.
The description states: “So, seeing as it seems I have an expiration date it’s time to do all the things, visit all the places, and live now.”
Her videos capture her enjoying life in Asia, Australia, South America, and beyond over the past few months.
