A woman make a shocking discovery about her husband of 20 years by simply opening a cupboard door.
Many people assume they know almost everything about their partner, especially when trust and openness are seen as the foundation of a long relationship. But Mary Thomson (whose name has been changed) realised there were major parts of her husband David’s life she had never been told about.
David, 45, is 15 years younger than Mary, and the pair have been together for two decades.
They first crossed paths when Mary was 39 and David was 24. What began as a friendship later developed into a romantic relationship.
Mary said the couple began living together in 2007 and married the following year, per The Sun. Over time, David became ‘a father figure’ to Mary’s five children who lived with them, and David also had a son of his own.
However, Mary later found out David had allegedly fathered additional children outside their relationship. According to her account, he didn’t volunteer the information — she only uncovered it after finding a plastic sample pot in a cupboard that contained David’s sperm.
Mary confronted him and asked: “Why do you need to give a sperm sample?”
She said his response left the 60-year-old feeling ‘stunned and sickened’. David reportedly admitted he had been donating sperm for six years and, in that time, had fathered 10 children.
David also allegedly told her that some of the donations happened ‘the old-fashioned way’ — through sex.
He then claimed he had a pregnancy fetish and said he liked the idea of feeling like a ‘hero’ for helping bring more children into the world.
Mary said he had been offering sperm donation through Facebook, and that his interest was sparked after he watched a TV programme about sperm donation.
While sperm donation can sometimes involve payment, Mary claimed David never took money. Instead, she believes he pursued it solely for personal gratification.
The Sun reports that the ‘natural insemination’ he promoted online — meaning unprotected sex — took place at least five times.
Mary said she learned about what had been happening three months ago. Since then, David has reportedly been diagnosed with sexual compulsion. Per Mayo Clinic, this is when someone has ‘an intense focus on sexual fantasies, urges or behaviors that can’t be controlled’.
The website further details: “Compulsive sexual behavior may involve different kinds of commonly enjoyable sexual experiences.
“Examples include masturbation, sexual arousal by using a computer to communicate, multiple sexual partners, use of pornography or paying for sex.”
Mary said that as part of his treatment, David is working through a 12-step programme.
Although David reportedly wants to repair their relationship, Mary said the betrayal has changed everything and that she ‘can never love him again’.
“I am biding my time, saving up and planning on starting again, as an independent woman,” she said, adding: “I will not let his morally void actions define me.”
